Windham Free Library Staff Picks – June 2022
This month’s staff picks are courtesy WFL Board Member, John C. Hume
While relatively new to the Windham Free Library (I joined the Board of Directors last fall) I am no stranger to libraries and library books having both worked in libraries (at MIT and Columbia University) and because I belong to a book club. That book club started five years ago this month and we read literature exclusively by LGBTQIA+ writers.
So, when thinking of putting together this month’s display I immediately went back to our book club tracking sheet (yes, we have one, we’re nerdy like that!) and I was happy to see that WFL holds titles by many of the queer authors we have read in our club.
From classics (E.M. Forester) to contemporary works (Michael Cunningham) the WFL is a place for all voices to be heard. But since June is Pride month, I thought I’d focus on queer authors.
I hope you find a book here that you’ve perhaps read in the past and want to revisit, or that you find a brand-new work to explore and share with the other book lovers in your life!
We’d love to hear your feedback on this month’s selections. Drop us a line at Windhamfreelibrary@gmail.com and let us know your thoughts about June’s Staff Picks, ideas for future Staff Picks themes, or to share with us books from our collection that you absolutely love!
Thank you for supporting the Windham Free Library and happy (prideful) reading!
